National carrier Air India is in dilemma after not more than 150 executive pilots from non-union category went on sick leave for the fourth consecutive day of protest. Pilots are protesting against management judgment of cutting down financial incentives by 50 percent.
Face to face talk between pilots and management was organized they failed to achieve any clarification or outcome as both sides refused to agree. Previously at the beginning of the month protest by pilots of Jet Airways brought about disorder and interruption to passengers. Hundreds of passengers marooned at several airports heading to angry argument. Around 10 international flights counting a flight to Malaysia were cancelled in Chennai airport. A daily flight from Chennai to Kuala Lumpur was cancelled and passengers are put on to the low cost carrier Air India Express flight. Booking of flights has been suspended for next fifteen days. Ten domestic flights from Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai apart from this flights leading to Kabul, Katmandu, New York and other destination covering inner state and other countries were cancelled. Madhavan Nambiar civil aviation secretary passed out a supposition of Air India shut down. Civil Aviation Ministry recommended the airline management put in effort to have a thorough conversation with all employees as soon as possible. Airline has already delayed the salaries of June and incentives of 31,500 employees. In 2008-09, damage has increased to more than $800million. Flights were cancelled after pilots reported sick.
