European Union bans on manufacture and import of 100-watt incandescent light bulbs. It’s in use since 19th century has been phased out, to promote using fluorescent or halogen lamps which consumes 80% less electricity.
Critics says new bulbs are gloomy it can cause headaches and rashes in people with light sensitive disorders. Ban is an action taken by EU to deal with climatic change. Less powerful clear bulb will be gradually banned unless all traditional bulbs vanish from shops across Europe in 2012. New rule follow an agreement of 27 EU governments last year. Customer has build up stock of old style versions over fear of higher cost of long life bulbs, or for medical and for emotional reasons. Several nations counting Australia, New Zealand, US, Canada and Philippines have also proclaimed the phase out of traditional bulbs
