India’s private airline Jet Airways was interrupted after number of pilots went on stimulated strike and reported as sick. Jet Airways is India’s second largest private airline. Jet spokesperson reported almost 120 flights was cancelled around the city comprising of 35 flights from financial hub Mumbai and 18 flights from New Delhi.
Hundreds of passengers were caught up that at numerous airports leading to arguments this attempt obstructed the airline operations and hassled civic. Pilots were protesting against the dismissal of two senior pilots. The pilots union, the National Aviator’s Guild was demanding for reinstatement of these pilots. Jet Airways has been in pacification with the pilots. Regional Labor Commissioner stated any strike by pilots during such phase would be deemed as illegal act quoted by the airline. The protest will continue until their demand are met said a pilot’s union spokesperson. He added saying all they want is to give in writing that two sacked pilots will be reinstate and management will take some responsibility in meeting them halfway. Strike led to cancellation to flights across India. Airline cancelled not less than six flights from Chennai southern city and four flights from Kolkata in the eastern state of India. Last year it dismissed 1,900 staff to cut costs but after the protests by employee’s government committed to take them back. Global fuel-price rise has badly hit aviation sector in India.
