According to the Human Rights Watch Group, homosexual Iraqi men are being systematically wiped out in a seemingly cold-blooded precision manner by the conservative Mehdi mercenaries. Four bombs kill more then 40 and injured more then 200 people in two cities of Iraq.

More then 130 people were wounded and 23 people were killed as the Northern city of Mosul was stuck by two truck bombs. In the city of Baghdad two truck bombs went off close to construction sites killing 16 people and injuring more then 80 people. Most of these killed were labors who had gathered for work at the start of the day.  This comes after the Friday attacks in Shia dominated areas when 36 people were killed.

The Mosul blasts happened in village of Khaznah and happened at around 0100 hrs GMT. Khaznah is just 20 kilometers fro Mosul. The blast of such high intensity that they destroyed 30 houses belonging to the small Shia Shabak ethnic group. Death toll is expected to rise as it is believed that some people are still stuck under the rubble. Mosul is the second largest city in Iraq and is of mixed Shia and Sunni Muslims. Mosul is the capital of Ninewa province and is located 405 kilometers north of Iraqi Capital Baghdad.

The UN Refugee Goodwill Ambassador, Angelina Jolie paid a visit to a camp close to Baghdad to meet up with several immigrant families expatriated due to violence in Iraq in an effort to draw awareness to the sad state of affairs of the displaced individuals within Iraq.

During her one day trip, she had a convivial visit with nine member family talking in detail about proper accommodation, medical facilities and schooling for kids. After gauging matters in the camp, Jolie affirmed that despite the bleak situation in the camp there were some cases of individuals who were able to go back home to other secure places.

Jolie had bought along her 7-yr old adopted son, Maddox along with her on the visit to the war-torn country, expressing her wish to be back another time. She further stated that when she came back the next time she desired to find the people in improved situation, hoping that the UNHCR and the government would assist them in procuring a part of land. She mentioned to a family that they were helped not because they were underprivileged but because they were the future of Iraq.

The mass assaults on the Christian community continue with six churches in Baghdad being bombed during the period of 24 hours. The initial bomb attack targeted St. Joseph church located in West Baghdad where two bombs planted within the church took off near 10p.m. on Saturday night, though no one was present in the church during that time.

Three bombs later blew up in 15 minute intervals starting at 4:30p.m, continuing till 4:45p.m.in the area outside the two churches in Al-Ghadeer located in East Baghdad that injured eight residents.

A car bomb then took off after 7p.m on Sunday evening outside a church in Palestine Street, East Baghdad, killing four and wounding 21 others. A bomb later exploded in a church located in a district in South Baghdad injuring three people.

All the churches that were bombed have been significantly wrecked. The close to one million Christians have taken off from Iraq in fear of extremist assaults. Since October, thousands of Iraqis have left Mosul dreading the warnings by Muslim radicals who believe in either convert or face imminent death.

In another incident, gunners armed with silencers shot down an Iraqi Christian, Nissan outside his residence in Kirkuk at 8:15 a.m., killing him instantly.

Chris Hill, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq must be thanking his lucky stars as his convoy narrowly missed a roadside bomb that went off in the southern province of Baghdad. The embassy convoy was on its way passing through Thiqar province that is 240kms south of Baghdad. The bomb has caused damage to the vehicle but none were harmed. The attack has come just two weeks subsequent to the total withdrawal of the U.S. troops from Iraq.

The American ambassador was visiting the region to get together with U.S, Italian residents and local political leaders in an endeavour to help restore Iraq. The U.S. military speaker, Maj. Myles Caggins said that it was not clear whether the ambassador was the intended target, stating that it was atypical for a Western convoy to be assaulted in that part of Iraq.

A characteristically Shiite Arab stronghold, Thiqar, was among the first province to be passed over to the Iraqi security personnel. It had been the hot bed for episodic violent conflicts in 2007 that concurred between the dedicated mercenaries to Shiite prophet Muqtada al-Sadr that were anti-American and the Iraqi security personnel. Bombs slyly planted in a bicycle and car in a Shiite majority locality located in south-west Baghdad injured six persons. In the Karrada district in Baghdad, a road bomb intended to attack the convoy belonging to the Central Bank governor, narrowly missed him, while killing one onlooker and injuring five others.
