More then 20 people were killed when a bomb went off inside a police station in Ingushetia, Southern Russia. The suicide attack happened in Nazran, the largest city in the largest city in Ingushetia injuring more then 60 people. Among the injured are 11 children who are still in the hospital recovering from injuries. The explosion happened at the time of a shift change and many police personal were present in the building compound. A suicide bomber drove a small Russian made truck loaded with explosives into the police station building.

This region has seen many bomb attacks and shooting in recent times and most have been targeted on police and government officials. In June the motorcade of Ingush President Yunus-Bek Yevkurov was attacked by a suicide bomber. He is still recovering from injuries and has not yet returned to his office.

The Monday suicide attack can be rated as the deadliest in the recent months. Apart from the police station, surrounding buildings, houses and cars parked on the street have been damaged too. As the police men had lined in for an inspection during the shift change, the suicide bomber drove the truck into the police station gate. Officials have estimated that the truck was loaded with 20 kg of TNT explosive and the bomb explosion has been described of high intensity.

As per the latest reports coming out of Islamabad, Pakistan’s most wanted man with a US$ 5 million reward on his head is said to have died in Wednesday’s drone strike. Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud was killed when two US missiles hit the house of Taliban chief’s father-in-law, Malik Ikramuddin. Mehsud’s second wife was also killed in the same missile strike. Latest report confirm that there was a large gathering the next day for funeral of the leader confirming the point that a high value target had been executed.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi, foreign minister Pakistan confirmed that the Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud was killed and the authority was in the process of doing ground verification before they give a 100% confirmation. The attack was done once the forces received solid intelligence on the ware bouts of the Taliban leader.

Taliban has not yet released any statement on the issue and is yet to confirm the leader’s death. But there have been reports that Taliban leadership is gathering in Southern Waziristan to elect the successor of Baitullah Mehsud. Three names have come under consideration as the probable replacements. Hakimullah Mehsud, Maulana Azmatullah and Wali-ur-Rehman are the names in running for the successor.

Baitullah Mehsud had been blamed for many suicide attacks including the one that killed Benazir Bhutto. He was also blamed for September 2007 bombings in Rawalpindi and the March 2009 Lahore police academy attack. Mehsud had his strong hold in South Waziristan and was the leader of Tehrik-i-Taliban since 2007.

An Indonesian wing of the deadly terrorist organization al Qaeda has taken responsibility for the 17th July twin luxury hotel blast that rocked the south easy Asian country capital. 19 people lost there lives while 50 were injured in the horrific incident as two bombs detonated within minutes of each other. Out of the nine dead, two are expected to be the suicide bombers.

Noordin M. the leader of the breakaway fraction group of the terrorist out fit Jemaah Islamiyah claimed responsibility of the attack on behalf of al Qaeda in Indonesia. The statement claiming responsibility appeared on a radical Islamist Web sites.

The statement said that the hotels were targeted as the two hotels were the biggest hotel properties owned by Americans in Jakarta. The statement also had names of the MU team members, MU cancelled the Jakarta leg of there tour post the blasts. Also mentioned in the statement was that the MU team members were Christians and they don’t deserve any respect or money in Indonesia.

Another statement mentioned that the attack on Marriot was to target American who had business and diplomatic ties with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

Afgan city Khost came under attack from Taliban fighters as thy attacked the police chief’s office. Many people heard sounds of explosions and gunfire in the main city complex with houses the main police station, attorney general’s office, courts and a local bank branch. Suicide bombers tried to enter the main police station. There is a fierce gun battle taking place and casualties are expected on both the sides. Police and army have taken position on the main roads of the city and as of now the city is empty. The Taliban fighters are armed with rockets and AK-47’s. The fighters have taken up position in the building and they are surrounded from all sides.

This is not the first time when Khost has come under attack from Taliban fighters. Earlier in May Taliban fighters had launched attacks on government buildings and killed seven people.

This region of Afghanistan has faced regular Taliban attacks. Gardez just 50 miles from Khost was attacked by Taliban fighters killing four security personal. In Gardez too the targets of attack were government buildings including police chief’s office, a police station, the intelligence directorate and the governor’s compound. In another attack in the city of Jalalabad a security personel was killed.

Deadly bomb blasts tore through the two best and the most secured hotels in Jakarta killing 9 and injuring over 40 people. The blasts occurred at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and J.W. Marriott Hotel. There are amongst the most luxurious hotels in the southern part of the city of Jakarta, Indonesia. The hotels are just 50 meters apart from each other.

The blast happened at 7:45 a.m. local time, and from the first reports they look like a coordinated blasts and were times to impact at the time of breakfast. Both the hotels are normally visited by foreign tourist, expats and business visitor’s .The blast targeted the restaurants in both the hotels. As of now the police have moved all the guests to secured locations and teams forensic experts are at the blast sites collecting all the evidence.

The blasts have blown massive holes in the hotel walls and also blew the windows of the hotels. From eyewitness reports one could see the restaurants shattered and also blood marks. It also is reported that it could a work of suicide bombers.

This is not the first time the Marriot has been targeted; in August 2003 a suicide bomber drove a vehicle loaded with explosives into the motor lobby of the hotel. That blast had killed 12 people and injured many as it happened during the lunch hour.

The blasts also put a big question mark on the security arrangements in the city of Jakarta. Its will be a huge puzzle for security experts to solve as to how some one could get through metal detectors and the security personal guarding the hotel entrances. The hotels have multiple layer of security with sniffer dogs and each guest is thoroughly check.

A well-orchestrated series of twin bomb explosions rocked the Tal Afar city located in Nineveh province in Northern Iraq on Thursday morning. The Nineveh Military Operations Command revealed the current death count standing at 43 with 65 injured.

The ghastly incident occurred within few days subsequent to the departure of the U.S. troops as they passed on security control to the local power on June 30. The Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki has cautioned just the month before on the possible augment of terror attacks in a bid to trample down the mass buoyant self-reliance in the nation’s security strength that ensued after the exit of the U.S battle troops.

The attackers gave conclusion to their heinous intentions within minute’s proximity at around 7:30a.m.local time according to police officials. There were violent outbreaks in Nineveh province on Wednesday where Shiites were the sole targets. A car bomb blew up on Wednesday in Mosul, the provincial capital of Nineveh that exhumed 19 lives and injured many others. On Thursday morning, a bomb set off in the bustling market area of Sadr City in Baghdad, a pre-dominantly Shiite shanty taking the lives of seven while wounding 20 others.

Bombs slyly planted in a bicycle and car in a Shiite majority locality located in south-west Baghdad injured six persons. In the Karrada district in Baghdad, a road bomb intended to attack the convoy belonging to the Central Bank governor, narrowly missed him, while killing one onlooker and injuring five others.

Suicide bombing has been a tactics deployed by many terrorist organizations world wide and was mastered by LTTE, but now there is a change in the way it is done. Recent reports and details release by US army officials indicate that Pakistan based Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud has moved a step ahead by using children as suicide bombers. In a video released by Pakistani Military it is quite evident that this is a reality as it shows children being trained to be suicide bombers. The video also shows children killing without hesitation. Some of these children are as young as 11 years. Baitullah Mehsud is actually selling these trained children to other Taliban outfits for as much as US $ 6000 to 12000.

The key shift in the Taliban strategy is due to the fact that a suicide bomber of this age can be easily be mixed into the local population and also are easy to bypass security cordons. Pakistan army is raging a war in Swat region and has been engaged in a fierce battle against the Taliban Militia. The fallout of the war has been that the Taliban have increased the number of suicide attacks in the major cities of Pakistan.

US has been trying to track Mehsud and have done several drone attacks including some at local madrassa’s which have been suspected of being training these suicide attacker.
